VICTORIA BARTLETT
Biography
Victoria Bartlett, born in Gloucester England, first launched her fashion career by obtaining a degree in Fashion Design from the London College of Fashion. Graduating from an institute known for teaching tailoring and craftsmanship, Victoria honed fashion skills including drafting, illustrating, designing, and a full range of fashion techniques.
Victoria's professional life began, while working for a couturier in London, promoting couture designs for the elite classes. Following this, she worked for several hip British designers. Departing London to New York, this prologue led to the birth of her own small collection with a partner, under the name of BC. Pausing from the production element of fashion, Victoria moved onto fashion illustration before eventually settling in fashion directing, where she is known as somewhat of an industry celebrity.
Her career has spanned a wide range of positions and opportunities. She was a fashion
editor at Conde Nast Allure prior to becoming the coveted Fashion Director at Large for
Interview Magazine. She has created fashion editorials for ID, Italian Vogue, L'uomo Vogue, BIG Magazine, Pop, The Face, Visionaire and V, French Vogue, and Dutch amongst others.
Victoria has styled and dressed celebrities such as Madonna, Courtney Love, David
Bowie, Debbie Harry, Lil' Kim, Hillary Swank, Chole Sevigny and others. Her talent and
eye fostered long term working relationships with Bjork, and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch
Nails. In addition, Victoria has lent a professional hand to a number of advertising
campaigns including DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, Calvin Klein, Ferre, Allesandro
Del'Aqua, Mui Mui, and Kenneth Cole. She has consulted for the aforementioned
designers along with Versace, Versus, Trussardi, Miu Miu, Byblos, Christian Lacroix,
Alessandro Dell'Aqua, DKNY, Kenneth Cole, Miss Sixty and a long term consultant for
Armani Exchange both campaigns, lookbooks and shows. Victoria was also the fashion
director at large for Theory's women's and men's collections as well as their accessory
line.
In the Fall/Winter 2003 fashion season, Victoria Bartlett introduced her latest project
VPL, Visible Panty Line. The line, like the designer, is a reflection of individuality. With a
wide range of press coverage and international sales, VPL received accolades and recognition from the most seasoned fashion professionals.
